Review: Bride and Groom Exhibition

Bride and Groom Exhibition started today and is on till Monday. Should you visit? I would say yes. There are a variety of stalls catering to all style and design need.

I visited today with my MIL and SIL.

The atmosphere hits you the minute you enter Ashok,

Page 3 socialite type ladies all walking in and out, clack-clack-clack of their stilettos.
"Did you know her fiance is ONLY 4'3"
"Are you serious?!"

Mixed with the chappal noise thub-thub-thub of cute full figured mummy's with stick thin daughters in tow.
"Mummieee wo pink wali dress kitni achi thi na!"
" Nahi chee uppar say net tha, pura shoulder dhik raha tha, ladkey waley dhekney aaye gay to kya boley gay"

I am not sure why that uncle stopped to pose...

When you climb up your greeted by a registration desk. Entry is free, you just have to fill in a small contact form and they give you the pass. As you enter the main hall the first thing you hear is "Bhaiya do-chey (2'6) mein dhikao" Babuchuri wala's is the first stall right at the entry-exit gateway. He had the prettiest pink chuda there and a lot of other pretty bangles too, but the price he quoted were above his normal price (All my churi's are from him, so I should know) so until and unless its a churi-emergency skip him, you can get the same stuff at his shops at M-block (high end, fancy churi's) or Lajpat (normal range, good churi's) or Hanuman Mandir (Low range, glass and a bit fancy churi's)

Once you move around its a bit crowded but worth going. My SIL and me have opposite style scene, her's is a bit more punjabi modern outlook on things while mine is a more traditional, and there was enough variety for both of us.

Bride and Groom Exhibition has Indian and Western garments, photographers, Jewelry, heels, wedding cards, etc.

Here are the ones that I like:

Ranas Legacy
For me this one was the best stall of was the one which made me think "ooh I can wear this for the wedding" and then I had to hit my head to remind myself that I was already married :( , no pretty bridal lehenga's for me any more :((

Ranas Legacy was the only one that had a variety of lehenga's on display and the stall was filled with customers and orders.

Based in Jaipur the owner point blank refused to tell me where he supplied in Delhi, he says he isn't allowed to tell the names...which makes you wonder if he supplies to designers or bigger shops. The quality is at par for sure.

Bodhi Tree
Again from Jaipur, I met Siddhi one of the designers young, beutiful and dynamic. After talking to her about Gota work, Zari and Zardozi you could see her excitement when she explained her work.

If your looking for pure traditional looks, or lovely gota lehenga she is the one to go too.

Lehenga's start at 35,000 and Anarkali's at 12,000

Beau Monde
Do visit for glamorous clutches! She doesn't have a facebook page as of yet but will be online soon!

All the way from Kashmir she brings with her luxury wear fit for a princess! Lovely sharara's like they used to wear in Rajwada times and gota's to die for!

Based in Kolkata they have no branches and don't share pictures online. Anarkali's, Kurti's, saree and light lehenga are the range that they have at the exhibition.

Naina Jain

For the first time I saw a Saree that was a mix of Gota, Tie and Dye, and chikankari. Beautiful!

The above is a list of names I really really liked. I have a thing for traditional garments but if your looking for something modern and crystal filled its available there as well!

and if your looking for something elegant and classy go to Gaurav Chhabra , although he specializes in Sherwani (yes things for the Groom are there as well!) his women's wear is certainly a class apart. I looked at it and imagined a tall thin girl with a glass of red wine celebrating her engagement with friends and family on a ship deck. So if your that girl then there is something for you too.

So if your getting married or in need of some good clothes and are free either tomorrow(7th July) or on Monday(8th July) do visit Bride and Groom Exhibition happening in Delhi at the Ashok

I love reading what you have to say :)
