Exhibiting @ Thank God for Design!

To those of you who don't know, I design when I am not researching for the blog.

Saturday saw me waking up early getting super nervous "what if I don't sell even a single garment" I whispered to hubby, "Then you will know what not to do" he replied half asleep.

I am not sure if that helped but ah well, that was all I had to keep me encouraged. ( I was super scared!)

We reached the exhibition venue at 10am and started our setup, by the time we were done around 11ish I was a little relaxed. It was my first exhibition and was almost like a brand launch.

I had 'practiced' the day before how I wanted my dummy to look, so it was easy to set up, the next day.

The picture isn't too clear,
the blouse is acutally a bird print blouse with neon green lehenga with a yellow dupatta

How to Wear a Saree

So you are getting married and have vowed to wear only suits....hmm...well you ask us recently married girls and we will tell you that they will be occasions when you need to wear a saree and running to your MIL every time is not the solution!

So here below are links to youtube video's which I think could help you out!

Mermaid style

Have fun!

Its been more than 2 months since my wedding and I would have worn Saree's almost half of the days that about 30-35 times by now and I still stumble or make the pleats wrong. Saree is hard to wear perfectly but it looks very pretty!

You will get it eventually! Don't worry!

Bridal Wear : Lime is that the new Orange?

Orange had a huge cult following last year. With the experimental bride going as far as making it the color of her bridal lehenga.
Ofcourse, it still remains a color of choice among brides even now and is definitely a hit on the mehendi, engagement and sangeet days.

A color that seems to be coming up is Lime, yes 'Lime'. Its definitely a bold color choice and not for the faint hearted. With brides going minimal on jewelry and makeup a bold color adds to the whole 'bridal' unique look.

If not a lehenga then try adding a lime saree or suit to your trousseau

Disclaimer : I do not own these pictures nor take credit for them...incase anyone's feelings get hurt by the same please contact me, will remove them at once.

Random Rambling 1: Suits Vs Saree

You see that this is just Part 1 of Random Rambling for the sole reason that I end up doing a LOT of it!

One part of marriage mom and me always fight about...buy more saree's or suits.

I like Saree (read love) and I will wear them. But the whole world insists that in the end you will end up wearing Suits only. True to some extend. But only true to the fact that the 'suit' I will end up wearing after the initial few months are cotton patiyala's and plain kurti's. That's my uniform through out summers.

Oh, tiny fact i am getting married in winters *facepalm*. I am a 'skinny jeans and overcoat' person in winters,   inlaws are pretty cool but I cant start wearing jeans right from the next day, so comes the horrid question nice saree's for the house (says me) or suits ( says mom).

What do I do??????????

Trousseau Saree Shopping for a Modern Bride

*Phew* done sooo much shopping in the last few days.

All of us generally roam around in jeans, skirts and shorts at our home and offices. Ofcourse once you get married people expect you to look like a 'new-bride' aka wear heavy Indian stuff. But that doesnt mean we cant find a solution to that.

Your mom will insist on a basic number of Saree's, its easy to find Suits and Anarkali's because that is what you will end up wearing and your probably used to wearing them anyways. Saree's are a different story what to wear , what to buy, how much to spend, etc. etc.

Here are some tips :

1. Buy what you will wear, NOT what your mom says you must have. No need of getting loads of Saree's and then storing them away.

2. If you are not the Saree-lover type of a person remember that there might be family functions or festivals where you might have to wear them. If that is true for you then buy heavy Saree's appropriate to wear to a family/friends wedding, and buy the minimum possible. Take what is in fashion and yet stylish.

I think its needs a tiny border also.

3. How many numbers you decide upon, take different colors and styles.

In desperate need of some blues!

4. If your like me and love Saree's then take different varieties of saree's. Take a good mix of what's in fashion and classic styles. You should defiantly have one of each:
a.) kundan work,
b.) Tie-n-dye with Gota Patti,
c.) Saree's available in all stores under the name of 'Sabyasachi' Saree's,
d.) 2-toned saree,
e.) Half-n-half saree,
f.) Printed chiffon and georgette.
( Take a couple of these to wear all-day, read shocker for boy and in-laws :P )
g.) Light Mukesh work
h.) South Silks
i.) Kanjivaram
j.) Net Saree
h.) And more!!

5. Take what we would call a 'chic' Saree.

Make sure you have a good red!
Sabyasachi Saree / half n half Saree

Bright colors always look good on young girls, so  if ur buying bright and happy colors then your doing it right

6. If your taking south silks and kanjeevarams then make sure you take something which you will be happy to wear even 5 years hence, These are classic styles.

There are many do's and dont, Just remember buy what you will wear.

PS : All pics (except a couple) have been taken off internet, incase anybody is offended coz of that let me know will remove it :)
