Wedding Vows : What I wrote on "10 Jewelry Must Haves"

Did you get your copy? Did you? Did you? Didn't I tell you too! Remember THIS

Anyways to the lazy bones who didn't bother :P , Here is what I wrote, It was in fact a blog 'Readers Request'

The Red comments have been added later.

Must Have Jewelry Trousseau

You have the perfect lehenga ready for the big day and you have thought of the right amount of jewelry you want to compliment it with, but have you thought beyond…

There is something about a newlywed that makes everyone go “Awwww.. isn’t she pretty” even if the poor girl is wondering if her saree pleats are going to open up and is smoky sexy makeup really ok for a family dinner?! “Do I know any other kind” she wonders fiddling with her family heirloom.

Tradition #1: Sister's and Cash Flow

A lot of you have written in to ask about 'traditional' part of the wedding and if I could throw some light on it, So here you go :

What better way to start the 'Traditional' series than with the most interesting traditions (which involves a pocket money hike for all us girls ;P )

Indian weddings are a great way to make that extra pocket money, all you have to do is be born as the sister of the groom or the bride :P

If you are the real sister of the groom or bride then you can certainly expect gifts and shagun ka lifafa aka cash on almost each wedding function. So every time your brother/sister gets something, so do you!

Ofcourse the brides Saree's or the grooms sherwani would be a tad more expensive then your salwar kameez and the shagun ka lefafa would not be as fat but hey, something is better than nothing :P

Here are some other situations where you can expect some cash flow your side :

1. Sehra Bandi
When your brother sits all dressed up just waiting for the pagdi to be put on his head, make sure to stand next to him. See that fat envelop your mothers holding, its coming your way!

How to Pose? Advice for Honeymoon Pictures and Inspiration for Wedding Ones.

It goes without saying that any picture you take on your wedding day will come out perfect!

You ask "why?", well you spent almost a lac getting ready for this big day I am sure its worth your money. But that is just a small contribution to making you look good. Yes 1L is a small contribution.  The biggest is your smile.

When you are the happiest you can be, all pictures are bound to come out good, and trust me natural pictures look way pretty than posed one. So why this post?

Now there are few brides and girls out there whose lives are dictated by how many likes did her profile pic get, how many people commented.  Is my wedding picture more liked than that of my friend?

If you are not that girl then it really wont matter and ypu would probably tell me such examples are taken just to exaggerated and nothing else, I used to believe that too till I met such a girl, her life is only and only facebook and her idea of fun is getting the perfect picture for her fb profile. For those of us who don't really care and are more concerned with making memories such people are a source of constant annoyance.

Anyway,  getting back on topic. This is a quick guide on how to pose or rather which pictures would look 'awesome' and just general posing advice (no I am not an expert, I found these online)

If a candid photographer is out of your budget and you would rather stick with a studio one then the inspiration pictures for you at the end is good, because studio photographers are not so good at 'pose' creation. So just study the few you like and replicate at your wedding, or pre-wedding shoot or honeymoon.

Happy Valentines Day!

According to Greek mythology humans were originally created with 4 arms 4 legs and a head with 2 faces. Fearing their power, Zeus split them into two separate parts, condemning them to spend their lives in search of their other halves....

Celebrate this Valentines Day with your other half!

A very special wish to the newly wed's first Valentine!

Love Mehendi, but hate the designs?

I went to Mcleoganj recently (which you would know if you follow me on twitter) and right outside the Dalai Lama Temple I saw this Tibetan girl with a butterfly mehendi tattoo on the side of her hand. It wasn't the kind of butterfly your normal mehendi wala would make, it was certainly artistic and made we wonder if I could find some inspiration for mehendi designs that don't look like squibbles.

I love this one. Its like Nail art without being nail art.
Perfect for the girl who hates mehendi but everyone insists she should get some done since her sister/bff is getting married.
( To my BFF, even if I would have had this idea earlier, this would have still not applied at my wedding you would still have to get your whole hand done!)

Introducing: A recent bride, who wants to share her wedding journey!

Every morning I read my mails as soon as I wake up. So there is me lying on bed one eye open reading through mails to find something interesting which would help me plan my day or act as a pick-me-up.

Twitter : "So and So celebrity twitted so and so" ya whatever, delete.
Spam : " Official mail from RBI " like RBI needs to write to me, delete.
Facebook : " Your recent post is doing well, promote it " The bank wont give me a credit card, cant do this.
Meetup : "Learn to promote your brand online" hmm,, save to read later.
Twitter : " You have a new follower" ye! :D
Random : "improve your SEO" I have no idea what SEO is and how it will help the blog. I refuse to search about it.
PeachesandBlush mailer Save to read later
Random : " I love your designs can you give me a discount?" eerr...ok will try, save to read later.
Some Forienger : " I would love to write for your blog" hmm,,, you are not even Indian?! What would you know...chalo will save for later.
Ankita : "The new bahu stage is nowhere, as I am not in the same city as my husband and his family. My long distance relationship is now a long distance marriage." *rub my eyes* did I read this correct. Oh ya, I remember asking her how her new life post wedding is. Isn't she the reader who wanted to write for the blog?

But why, I asked her?
The reason I want to get associated with Crazy Indian Wedding is because I really like the blog, I've been a regular reader; I've got a lot from here and I'd love to give back to the blog and its readers. Also it'll be an outlet for my itch to write.

She wanted to write her own blog, but has been putting it off for a while, and since CIW is an open forum for all who want to help the bride-to-be and beyond, we welcome her on board.

Here is a little bit about her, in her own words :

A go-green freak, a 5 year old trapped in the body of a 25 year old, a book lover, a food junkie and a shopaholic having more clothes and shoes than the rest of the family put together – that’s me.
